Training

The Sailing Academy is a very popular base for training and coaching at all levels.
 
Fully equipped lecture rooms, safety Ribs and marks are available for hire, supported by excellent catering facilities.
 
The British Olympic Sailing Team regularly train at WPNSA, and any have become members intending to make it the base for the majority of their sailing programme.
 
The venue is also open to visiting foreign teams.

How To Find Us

By Car
From Dorchester: Take A354 to Weymouth
From Poole and Bournemouth: Take A352, which then becomes A353 to Weymouth
From Bridport: Take B3157 to Weymouth
 
When you arrive at Weymouth

Take the A354 to Portland. This will bring you to the causeway linking Weymouth and Portland. Halfway along the causeway you will reach a mini-roundabout. Turn left, we are signposted ‘Sailing Academy’.
 
By Bus

Weymouth Lifeboat Station

We are one of the busiest Lifeboat stations on the coast, undertaking around 100 ‘shouts’ a year, split equally between ‘Ernest and Mabel’ (SEVERN class Lifeboat) and ‘Phyl Clare III’ (Atlantic 75) covering 1330 square nautical miles. Like every Lifeboat Station in the UK and Ireland we are run and funded by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, an organisation funded entirely through voluntary contributions.

Boat School

Ian Fuller the principal of RYA training has been training clients in Weymouth and Portland since 1990 and is based in Castletown on Portland. Courses are run out of the Hotel Aqua in Castletown on the Isle of Portland with accommodation and cafe on site. Boat training in Weymouth & Portland Harbours and the surrounding beautiful Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
